Faculty Development Funds Available for Crete Project
From: University of Cincinnati Currents
Date: February 25, 2000

For a second year, UC faculty will be traveling to Crete this summer to do research and faculty training. Faculty who wish to participate must apply before March 1 for the limited number of openings available. Full-time UC faculty members of the collective bargaining unit are eligible to apply.

The project will be conducted for six weeks (June 12-July 24) in the municipality of Hersonissos on the island of Crete, Greece. The purpose of the field project is to train UC faculty about sustainable development, globalization and interdisciplinary research within the context of an overseas field project.

Participants with appropriate interest and expertise are invited to apply to one or more of the project's four areas of concentration:

  • regional development
  • citizen participation
  • community / urban design
  • tourism development management

Interested members of the UC faculty bargaining unit should e-mail or send via campus mail a current curriculum vitae and a one-page statement identifying the project concentration areas in which they are most interested and the aspects of their background and expertise that would allow them to contribute to the project in those areas, as well as the overall team effort.

Materials may be e-mailed to chris.auffrey@uc.edu; or sent by regular mail to:

A grant from the Faculty Development Council will pay for project-related transportation and room costs of participants. Salaries, meals and other costs are not covered by the grant.
