A revised version of a new General Education model is now ready to review, according to a report at the May 11 Faculty Senate Meeting.

David Lee Smith, chair of the academic affairs committee, said the draft is posted at www.uc.edu/gened/ and the university-wide task force working on the new plan welcomes additional suggestions and input.

"We're trying to be inclusive. We want to get people involved and really looking at it. Test it. Check it. Can it work?"

The new model is required as part of UC's reaccreditation under the North Central Association.

In other business, the Faculty Senate endorsed the formation of an ad hoc committee to investigate proportional compensation for part-time faculty. Billi Johnson reported that the human resources committee which she chairs responded to Vice President Mitchel Livingston's call for a critique of the Just Community draft principles. Johnson said the committee's primary concerns focused on implementation. "Are there real implications?" asked Johnson.

Planning committee chair Richard Karp also provided an update on the Campus Life plan, which was also considered during the All-University Faculty meeting May 16.
