| University of Cincinnati Says "Thank You" For $328.9 Million in Gifts Date: July 28, 2000 By: Greg Hand Phone: (513) 556-1822 Archive: General News Cincinnati -- The University of Cincinnati has shattered a five-year fund-raising goal, crossing the June 30 finish line with a final tally of $328.9 million. The goal for the "Campaign for the University of Cincinnati" was $300 million. "Thank you. On behalf of the UC community, thank you," said President Joseph A Steger. "Thanks to our donors, the University of Cincinnati enters the 21st Century with hundreds of new scholarships for our students, top-notch facilities for our best academic programs, and endowments to support our outstanding faculty." The Campaign for the University of Cincinnati was launched in 1995. At the Campaign's public kick-off in May 1998, more than half the goal -- $160.8 million -- had been raised. Donations during the final two years of the Campaign outpaced the first three years. "The university's first campaign of this magnitude succeeded through the generosity of UC alumni and friends who were unwilling to settle for less," said Richard W. Bauer, executive director of the UC Foundation. "The Campaign demonstrated that our alumni and friends, as well as major corporations, want to invest in the university's future."
