Nashville -- Cris Gruener, (DAAP '95), spent days trying to score a ticket to watch her alma mater play in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. A former member of the band and an avid UC supporter, she was thrilled when she learned UC had been bracketed in her hometown, Nashville.

She was equally disappointed after learning the game was already a sellout. Then, with less than 24 hours before tipoff, her luck changed. Not only did she stumble across a free ticket, she also ran into Bob Huggins in a hotel lobby.

"I've never met him before," she said. "It was really cool. I never realized how tall he was."

Gruener was just one of many UC fans in Nashville eager to cheer the Bearcats on to victory. Decked in their UC gear and ready for first-round action are (from left) Bob Hoeweler, Roy Evers, Marian Evers, John Silver, Bill Dally, Ken Stephens, Shirley Stephens, Jim Ellis and Shari Hettesheimer.
