Technology Review
A virtual reality recreation of the 1969 Moon landing by Benjamin Britton, associate professor of fine art, was featured in the prestigious MIT publication Technology Review (July/August issue) as well as in Boy's Life and on the space.com web site. "MOON" is available on the web and will eventually be available on DVD as well.
PBS Market to Market
A project by Michael Romanos, professor of planning, and Sam Sherrill, associate
professor of planning, was featured on PBS July 10th. Sherrill and Romanos were recognized for
their innovative effort to give downed trees new life. They find fallen timber -- trees felled by storms or lumber from demolished buildings -- and give it new life as furniture. PBS reported on
their project in general and focused on the transformation of a 500-year-old oak into a nine-foot trestle table and other items for the family who treasured the giant through five generations. The project was also featured in the September, 1999 issue of Popular Woodworking.
Washington Post
Norman Pollack, director of intellectual property, was quoted in an article about the controversy over Brazil's role in the development of drugs and other products from the Amazon rainforests. UC was also cited for its U.S. patent on an extract of guarana seeds of the Amazon for use against blood clots. The article also ran in the Chicago Tribune.
USA Today
Michael Porte of communications was quoted in an article about possible racial and ethnic stereotypes in movie characters this summer.

Chuck Matthews of CBA was quoted in a front-page story about the growth and sustainability of personal services businesses.
States News Service
Gary Friedhoff of CBA was quoted in a States News Service article analyzing why Ohioans face fewer federal tax audits than residents of many other states.

Graduate Student Honored
The Columbus Dispatch recognized the efforts of master's degree candidate Barbara Hahn who recieved a scholarship through the Ohio Bicentennial Commission's scholarship program. Hahn is studying the relationship between cities and railroads.
Junior Miss Chooses UC
Sarah Jane Everman of Kennesaw, Georgia, was crowned America's Junior Miss June 28. This fall, she'll be a freshman in CCM's musical theater program. Profiles about her have appeared in the Atlanta Journal and Constitution, the Las Vegas
Review-Journal and the Palm Beach Post, as well as on the Associated Press newswire and the Cox News Service.
