An article about paying for college prominently featured
UC's co-op program. Quoted in the story were June 1999
engineering graduate Sharon Hagan and Richard Abel, department
head of professional practice at UC's College of Applied Science,
who is also founding president of the recently formed
Accreditation Council for Cooperative Education.

Harold Fishbein, psychology, was cited in an article that
reported on the results of a study he and Neil Ritchey,
sociology, conducted that looked at the sources for prejudice
among teenagers. The study was also written about by the Reuters
wire service and appeared in the Toronto Star.
Chicago Tribune
Donna Schoebel of the College of Evening and Continuing Education was quoted in an article about the
growth of new opportunities in health care. UC's Legal Nurse
Consulting Program was cited in the article as the first program
of its kind in the nation.

Timothy Quinnan, assistant dean for student services at
Raymond Walters College, penned a column abour preparations at
the college level for incidents of extreme student violence.
Scientific American
Benjamin Britton, associate professor of fine art in DAAP,
appeared on
Scientific American magazine's website in their "Ask
the Expert" segment.

Stan Henderson, associate vice president for enrollment
management, was cited in an article about increasing numbers of
colleges offering summer classes as a regular part of the
curriculum for students.
Cleveland Plain Dealer
Alison Weiss from the College of Medicine was quoted in a
story about the often-unrecognized prevalence of whooping cough
in our society.
Baltimore Sun
Carl Mills of the English department commented on the role
of non-words, such as "uh-huh" and "tsk, tsk, tsk," in the
development of our language.
Fort Worth Star-Telegram
David Maume of sociology and director of the Kunz Center for
the Study of Work and Family, was cited in an article about a
conference on work at North Texas State University.
