Congratulations Miss America 2000!

  • Media around the world including the Associated Press, USA Today, The Washington Post, New York's Daily News, The Columbus Dispatch and The Louisville Courier-Journal reported on the victory by UC graduate student Heather French in the Miss America competition. French, who appeared on ABC's Good Morning America, CBS' David Letterman and Sunday Morning as well as on NBC news programming, also holds the title of Miss Kentucky.

  • James Lockey, environmental health, was quoted in a story about a study he conducted for the U.S. Department of Energy that found evidence of occupational illnesses for workers exposed to poisons at the Oak Ridge nuclear facility.
