Keith King in the College of Education was quoted in the October 4th issue of Newsweek about his research into the effect of school uniforms on reducing violence in schools. King said his research indicates uniforms help students feel connected to their school community, which helps prevent violence.

Dr. Thomas Zuck of the Hoxworth Blood Center was widely quoted in an article of blood shortages. Zuck believes if donation patterns don't change, blood shortages and emergency appeals for blood donations could become commonplace.

Sociolinguist Carl Mills in the English department was quoted in several national newspapers about the reason our speech is littered with "ums," "hmmms," and "ahs." Mills dubbed these sounds "the Cinderella elements of language," because they're hard workers, but not fit for the ball.

Two College of Engineering alumni were featured in a Business News article about the launch of their product for business travelers. Jim Mazuk and Kenneth Boehm, Jr. are marketing the "Mileage Master" which helps drivers track and record their mileage while taking business trips.
