  • The magazine ran a profile on the work of architect Frank Gehry, featuring his design of UC's Vontz Center for Molecular Studies.

    New York Times
  • Shane Johnson, finance, was quoted in an article about the aggressive approach Fifth Third Bank instills in its employees in creating business for the bank.

    Also in the Times, James Nordlund, medicine, was quoted in an article about skin tone and how advances may be made in the coming years that allow us to change our own pigmentation. Richard Harknett, political science, had a letter to the editor published in response to an op-ed column about the future path of U.S. foreign policy and how it is perceived by other nations.

  • UC's co-op program was a subject of conversation in a national call-in show on NPR called "Talk of the Nation."

  • An editorial in the paper praised a new teacher training initiative announced by the state, but was critical of the fact that officials at UC's College of Education weren't made aware of the program until it was announced. The paper called UC's program "one of the nation's leaders in teacher training."

  • Steve Bennett, political science, was quoted in an article about the upcoming presidential campaign and how it is likely to play out in Ohio. UC's Ohio Poll was also cited in the same article.

    Also, UC's respected fashion design program was mentioned in the paper as one of the places that designer-to-the-stars Christina Perrin received training on the way to building her million-dollar business.

  • Joan Marie Johnson, a visiting professor in history, was quoted in an article about her presentation at the Southern Women's Conference on History in Richmond.

  • Ernie Hall and UC's Center for Robotics Research were featured in an article about the surprising inroads robots have made into our society.

  • The paper's Sunday magazine ran a feature about a scholarship program run by a local American Legion baseball league for promising scholar-athletes. The story looked at where the scholarship winners from the 15 year duration of the program have ended up, with one of the winners being Ed Berger, an assistant professor in Engineering.

  • Eric Rademacher, Institute for Policy Research, was quoted in an article about redistricting efforts in Ohio and how Republican control of the state will favor that party in making redistricting decisions.

    Alumni making news
  • Cheryl Boyce, who holds a master's degree in health planning and administration from UC, was the subject of an article in the Columbus Dispatch about cancer in the minority community. Boyce is the executive director of the Ohio Commission on Minority Health.

    Students in the news
  • Sarah Jane Everman, who just completed her freshman year at CCM, was featured in an Atlanta Journal-Constitution article about her life over the past year. She is the reigning America's Junior Miss. Recently, she sang the National Anthem at a Baltimore Orioles game, appeared at a celebrity charity event with Anthony Edwards from the television show "ER" and presented one of the awards at TNN's Music Awards telecast.
