Nominations Opened for Oscar Schmidt Public Service Award

UC, through the Oscar Schmidt Public Service Award given each spring, honors a member of the faculty who has provided extraordinary service to the community. The recipient receives a stipend of $1,000 and his/her name is placed on a bronze plaque in the foyer of Tangeman University Center.

Nominations for the Oscar Schmidt Public Service Award are currently being accepted and are due by March 31. The recipient will be announced at the May All-University Faculty Meeting with the award formally presented during the June Commencement.

Any faculty member who has provided extraordinary service to the community, whether through the application of professional expertise to the solution of public questions or by exemplary participation in an institutional public program at UC, may be nominated.

The selection committee generally favors service activities that are unpaid and are not considered part of normal service expectations for all faculty. Nominations should be sent to:
