Date: April 28, 2000 By: Chris Curran Phone: (513) 556-1806 Archive: Campus News May 4, 2000 UPDATE: Deadline extended until Friday, May 12. The Fifth Faculty Summer Institute on Instructional Technology will be held July 31 to August 11. Members of the AAUP bargaining unit are invited to submit applications for participation in the institute. PURPOSE: The Institute is geared toward beginning and intermediate technology users who are interested in changing their instructional techniques. It is designed to provide faculty with an overview of possible technological solutions for specific educational outcomes. Activities emphasize technology demonstrations of best practice models, hands-on learning, and applied problem-solving in interdisciplinary groups. An added feature to this year's institute will be the inclusion of an evaluation component for technology integration. Participants will be expected to demonstrate how they will integrate technology activities into existing or new courses during the following academic year. Participants will receive a $3000 voucher for computer hardware or software. They are expected to attend the full two weeks of the session in order to receive their vouchers. The application deadline is Friday, May 5, and award notifications will be made by May 26. Priority will be given to faculty who have not participated in previous summer institutes. More information is available at Summer Institute web site. Faculty who feel they need to be better prepared with basic computer skills should consider applying to the Library Instructional Technology Institute to be held again on June 26-30, 2000. Information about that program can be found at the Libraries web site. |
