The book demonstrates that writing instruction in 19th century American schools proved much more important than previously assumed in the overall history of writing instruction. The book was honored as the best book on professional and pedagogical issues from the calendar years 1997, 1998 and 1999. Last year, the award went to Andrew Hudgins, for his poetry collection, "Babylon in a Jar." That year the award was for the best creative work. Schultz will receive the award at a luncheon during the annual CEAO Spring Conference at Ohio Wesleyan University on April 28. |
