| Employees Get New Opportunity To Buy Their First Home
Date: May 12, 2000 By: Chris Curran Phone: (513) 556-1806 Archive: Campus News UC employees who need help in the transition from renter to home- owner now have a variety of services available to make their dreams a reality. Information sessions for the UC Walk-to-Work Program will be held in Room 460 University Hall from 5-6 p.m. Wednesday, May 24 and from 3-4 p.m. Thursday, May 25. Over the last year, UC has worked with several local agencies to provide guidance and financial assistance to new home-buyers. Representatives from the Home Ownership Center, the Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Counseling Service and UC Human Resources will be on hand at the meeting to explain what resources are available. UC will even help with very low-interest loans for employees buying homes in the Uptown area. Those loans can be up to $2,500 and can be paid back over two years through payroll deduction. "We want to create an opportunity for as many of our employees as possible to become homeowners," said Thomas Hadley, associate vice president for student services and human resources. The Home Ownership Center and the Greater Cincinnati Mortgage Counseling Service can offer below-market rates on mortgages, down payment assistance, and credit and financial counseling. For more information, call the UC Benefits Office at 556-0370 or e-mail Mary Myrick. |
