10 Tips To Secure Your Workstation
Following these tips will help prevent abuse of your computer, your account, your identity, the network and UC:
- Do not share passwords.
- Do not open e-mail attachments from unknown people.
- Lock up diskettes when you leave your work area.
- Logoff or disconnect from all network systems. Do not leave your computer unattended.
- Make periodic backup copies of work from your hard drive or floppy disks that are essential to your business function.
- Install anti-virus software, keeping its virus signatures current.
- Do not propagate virus hoaxes or chain mail.
- Information that is no longer needed should be destroyed.
- Beware of shareware; it may contain a virus.
- Keep patches current, especially the security related ones.
