Kevin L. McLaughin
Kevin L. McLaughlin began his career as a Special Agent for the Department of Army. He was responsible for investigating Felony crimes around the globe. He has had many careers over the years, including being a Police Officer in Kissimmee Florida, an Investigator for Mastercard/Visa, a Middle School teacher, a Director at Kennedy Space Center (where he worked with Fred Hayes, James Lovell, Armstrong, Sheppard, etc.), the President of his own company, and an IT Manager and Senior Information Security manager with the Procter & Gamble (P&G) company. Kevin has also been an Adjunct for Institutions of Higher Education for 15 years. While at P&G Kevin created one of P&G’s augmentation outsourcing teams in India. Kevin and Quinn Shamblin (a member of Kevin’s UC InfoSec team) designed and implemented this India team and it won a global Gold Service award from Atos-Origin and has acted as a model for countless corporate relationships since. Kevin joined the University of Cincinnati in April of 2006 with the responsibility to create an Information Security program and build a team of Information Security professionals. He is responsible for all aspects of Information Security Management, including but not limited to Strategic planning and the Architecture and Design of Information Security solutions.

Kim Logan
Kim Logan graduated from Wright State University with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She worked as a substitute teacher in the Centerville, Ohio school district before finding full-time employment with EDS. She began her career at EDS supporting the GMAC branches and their System 38 and AS/400 midrange computers. When the GMAC branches began decommissioning the midrange computers, Kim was fortunate to be transferred to the Security team where her career really began. Kim worked as a mainframe security administrator for 5 years with EDS and was the team lead for 3 years. She moved to Cincinnati in 1999 when she married her husband, and joined the UC security team. As a member of the UC Information Security team, Kim is responsible for risk management.

Quinn R. Shamblin
Quinn R. Shamblin began his career as an Officer in the US Navy, teaching Nuclear Power Plant system theory, design, construction, safety and operations to the students of the Navy’s Nuclear Power School. He moved from classroom teaching to the Director of Multimedia Development for the school. Quinn left the Navy for Proctor and Gamble where he worked as one of a team of three on the development, deployment and support of a global data transport system. The system required and delivered 24/7 coverage and 99.9997% uptime. During the early days of team augmentation outsourcing to India, Quinn worked with Kevin to form and manage a very successful team that won a global service award from Atos-Origin and has acted as a model for countless relationships since. From there he moved into a role as special projects manager for the Governance team in the relationship between P&G and HP. He worked as a senior architect delivering business process automation solutions based on services-oriented architecture. Quinn joined the UC InfoSec Team in 2006. He is responsible for investigations, awareness & education and special projects. One early and important success for Quinn was the creation and deployment of the uc.edu/infosec website. The site delivers a huge and growing quantity of Information Security information and is instrumental in growing the reputation of UC as a center of competence in the field of Information Security.

Karl Hart
Karl Hart started out in the Air Force as a munitions system specialist and took on the duties of managing and securing the munitions database. After the Air Force he worked as a computer consultant specializing in a wide range of areas from helpdesk, to server support, to security testing. In 1998 he joined the University of Cincinnati where he worked as a system administrator for the Medical College. He then moved on to a Security Analyst position at Fifth Third Bank where he worked as the project lead for their Intrusion Detection System project. He returned to the University of Cincinnati in 2001 as the Director of IT at the College of Nursing. In 2007 he joined the UC Information Security team as SAP Security lead and work on Identity Management. Karl’s background in security includes vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, firewall management, user awareness, intrusion detection, incident response, data recovery, and patch management.

Renee Wright
Renee Wright is an Application Analyst in Information Security. Renee began her employment in UCit as a Cincinnati State cooperative student in the UCit Helpdesk in 1998. She held her co-op position for one year as she received her AS in Information Systems. She was then hired by the Helpdesk as a Senior Support Technician. She handled many additional duties during her time with the helpdesk providing excellent customer service for the university for Exchange Email support as well as any additional tasks assigned to her. Renee has been working on the UCFlex (SAP) project in the security group since 2005 and has been able learn and help resolve UCFlex security issues. Renee is the UC Flex Security Application Team Lead and reports to Kevin McLaughlin. Renee is located in room 300 University Hall with the Core Business Systems team for UC Flex.

Hans Luna
Hans Patrick R. Luna was born and raised in Bulacan, Philippines. Upon moving to Cincinnati in 2001 he graduated from Norwood High School in 2003. He attends the University of Cincinnati, College of Business where he majors in Marketing with a concentration in International Business while pursuing a minor in African Studies. Having worked at the University of Cincinnati Student Technical Resource Center & Multimedia Department, Hans has joined the Information Security Department as a student worker. In addition, he is currently a Marketing Specialist for Basal-Tech in Cincinnati, OH. Hans has also worked with G.E. Money as a Forecast Analyst Intern. Hans anticipated graduation date is 2008.
Josh Ohmer
Josh Ohmer is in his 3rd year at The University of Cincinnati, and currently working in the Information Security department as a student worker. He is majoring in Information Systems with a focus in Digital Business.
