Brazil Jazz Exchange Program

This program is to bring 5 of selected CCM jazz studies majors to the University of Campinas, a.k.a. Unicamp from August 16-30 2009, which is the beginning of their second semester:

The faculty of Unicamp will arrange homestays for our students preferably matching students by instrument, or gender if there are females.

The faculty of Unicamp will arrange for our students to get student ID cards so they can eat in the student dining hall inexpensively and have access to all campus facilities.

The faculty of Unicamp will present 2 or 3 lectures about Brasilian music for our students in English. Likewise I would present the same number of lectures about American jazz music for the all the students, using our students for demonstration.

Every day will feature rehearsal groups mixing our students with theirs, doing a combination of Brazilian and American music, with a performance scheduled at the end of the time period. We will also arrange several field trips into Sao Paulo to take so our students can see concerts and visit a samba school.

Students who participate in this program will be out of the country for less than 9 weeks.
