There are a variety of scholarships available for study abroad. The scholarships listed here are country/region specific, some focus on ethnicity, there are scholarships dedicated to STEM majors (science, engineering, technology, mathematics), and others are language focused. Please take the time to research the scholarships that you are eligible for.
If you are interested in applying for the Boren scholarship for study abroad during the 2013-14 academic year, now is the time to start the process. UC International Programs staff are available to assist you with your application essays and advise you on program selection. The campus deadline is January 11, 2013, and the full set of procedures and instructions can be found in the document below.

The Fund for Education Abroad awarded $65,000 in scholarships for 2011-2012. $60K was awarded in general scholarships and $5K for the Rainbow Scholarship which supports LGBTQA study abroad students.

The Gilman Scholarship provides scholarships to U.S. undergraduates with financial need, from diverse backgrounds and studying in non-traditional countries. Gilman awards up to $5,000.
Bridging Scholarship for Study in Japan is for undergraduate students participating in study abroad programs in Japan. Any field of study is eligible. Awards between $2,500 to $4,000.
English Speaking Union supports individuals in the fields of Business, Humanities, STEM, Liberal, Fine or Applied Arts and who wish to study or conduct research in a member country of the British Commonwealth.
Boren Awards support undergraduate students studying in areas of the world that are critical to U.S. interests, including Africa, Asia, Central & E. Europe, Eurasia, Latin America and the MENA. Awards $20,000.
DAAD, Study and Research in Germany provides support to highly-qualified students and faculty for international research and study. The DAAD provides a €650.00 (euro) stipend.
Critical Language Scholarship provides fully-funded intensive language instruction to U.S Citizens. This scholarship is $3,000. Airfare and lodging are also completely covered.
BUTEX Scholarship is open to undergraduate students who have been offered a study abroad or exchange at a UK university. This scholarship is €500.00 (euros). Visit xe.com for daily currencies.
American-Scandinavian Foundation supports individuals pursuing their studies in Scandinavia for up to one year. For this scholarship, fellowships are $23,000 and grants are $5,000.
National Society of Collegiate Scholars proudly offers scholarship funding to help expand our members' horizons. This scholarship ranges from $2,500 to $5,000.
Mobility International has worked with people with and without disabilities from over 100 countries, including: Bahrain, China, UK, Germany, Japan, Jordan, Mexico, Russia, Uzbekistan, Vietnam, Zimbabwe and more.
The OIC Scholarship offers scholarships for semester study abroad programs. The award amounts begin at $1,500.
During his 27 years at UC Professor Tolley with a PhD from Columbia and a UC law J.D. offered a dozen different public law classes in the American and International sub-fields -- from US Constitutional Law to International Organization. In 2005 Dr. Tolley was awarded the Barbour Award for service in student faculty relations, was named 2007 student organization advisor of the year and received the 2010 UC Faculty Award for Exemplary Contributions in Service. The Howard Tolley International Human Rights Scholarship supports a human rights service project, work experience, research or study abroad of no less than two weeks outside North America. This is a $2,500 scholarship.

Members of Rainbow SIG have created an annual scholarship for LGBT study abroad students. The scholarship is hosted and administered by the Fund for Education Abroad (FEA). Awards $5,000.
AIFS Diversity scholarships include 50% of the program fee and round trip air fare, one per semester.The amount of this scholarship is $2,000.
HACU, The Hispanic Association of Colleges & Universities, has partnered with Global Learning Semesters in an effort to increase the number of Hispanic students engaged in study abroad.
Diversity Abroad is the leading global education organization which targets non-traditional students for international education opportunities. DA scholarships range from $500 to $1,000.
CIEE Robert B. Bailey Scholarship promotes the participation of underrepresented groups in study abroad, especially ethnic minority students. The scholarship amount ranges from $500 - $1,500.
Turkish Coalition Scholarship supports African American, Hispanic and Native American students studying in Turkish universities, including universities in Northern Cyprus. Awards $2K.
CIEE launched GAIN to help overcome the main barriers to study abroad, namely, the challenges of cost and curriculum requirements. GAIN will aide in diversifying study abroad by providing opportunities for students who are economically challenged, from diverse backgrounds, or underrepresented fields of study.
CIEE is providing one million dollars each year through grants and scholarships to expand access for students for full-year, semester, and summer study abroad programs. GAIN will also provide grants and scholarships to students who are selected as awardees by the highly respected Benjamin A. Gilman and David L. Boren Scholarship programs.
