CISI Insurance

UC International partners with Cultural Insurance Services International (CISI). All UC students traveling abroad on university-sanctioned or funded international travel are required to purchased and maintain continuous insurance meeting while abroad. UC International will determine minimum requirements for international insurance.

UC students participating in a faculty-led study abroad program:

If you are traveling on a faculty-led program, check with your faculty member to see if you will automatically be enrolled in CISI. Most faculty-led programs coordinate with UC International to include the cost of the insurance in the study abroad program fee and automatically enroll all students. Students will be presented with a copy of their individual insurance card prior to traveling abroad.

UC students participating on an individual study abroad program:

If you are traveling on an individual program (ex: third party, exchange, co-op), students follow the self-enrollment and payment process with CISI.

UC faculty leading a faculty-led study abroad program:

All UC students traveling abroad on university-sanctioned or funded international travel are required to purchased and maintain continuous insurance meeting while abroad. You should build the cost of CISI insurance into your budget. UC International will work with you to enroll the faculty leaders and students into this plan.

UC faculty and staff traveling abroad:

UC faculty and staff are responsible for their own health and accident insurance while traveling abroad. Prior to travel, it is your responsibility to check with your insurance company to verify that you have overseas coverage.
