Thank you for visiting the companion website to the print journal Composition Studies, a peer-reviewed triannual independent journal. This website includes submission policies and subscription information. It also hosts the journal’s archives, comprising full-text access to issues published seven years prior to the present.

The oldest independent periodical in the field, Composition Studies is an academic journal dedicated to the range of professional practices associated with rhetoric and composition: teaching college writing; theorizing rhetoric and composing; administering writing related programs; preparing the field’s future teacher-scholars. We welcome work that doesn’t fit neatly elsewhere.

The journal currently has an acceptance rate of 10-12%. Composition Studies is a member of the Conference of Editors of Learned Journals and is indexed in EBSCO, ProQuest, ERIC, Gale/Cengage, and JSTOR.

Composition Studies is the winner of the 2017 Outstanding Composition and Rhetoric Journal Award in Recognition of Inclusive Editorial Practices.  Click here for award description.

Please explore this site for further information about the journal, its staff, and its history in the field. And be sure to check out the contents of our current issue!
