For the first time, former high-ranking spies and officers of the KGB, the former Soviet Secret Service, openly speak of the organisation’s aims and successes during the Cold War in divided Germany.

 

Part 1 of this three part series focuses on KGB assassins and their victims from 1945 to the 1960’s. The KGB pursued and murdered dissidents, such as Lev Rebet, not only at home but also in the West. Uranium extraction in East Germany was also highly classified in order to preserve the Soviet Union´s nuclear secrets.
