Meals at give-away prices, Western goods on sale: a lot of luxury for families whose fathers were the political VIPs in East Germany. The film accompanies sons and daughters of ex-politburo members back to the place of their childhoods, back to Wandlitz near Berlin. The children speak about the once-powerful men of their childhoods, and their adolescence in a golden cage. Private videos and documents give exclusive insights into their unusual family lives. The outcome is a portrait of a generation that wanted the best but created something bad.
