The basic data for the Discography were derived from the bibliographic utilities
WorldCat (maintained by OCLC Online Computer Library Center) and
RLIN (maintained by the Research Libraries Group). They were obtained through the licence agreements that
University Libraries (University of Cincinnati) maintains with each entity. The data were collected via the Internet using the bibliographic database program
ProCite. The data entries were significantly revised, amplified, and supplemented either through examination of the items (or photocopies), or through consultation of these additional resources:
Muze,
Tower Records, and the R.E.D. Classical Catalogue ("Gramophone Catalogue").
The finished data were transfered from ProCite into a
Microsoft Access 2000
database, where additional detail was added. The Web search interface was programmed with
Microsoft ASP (using
this book).

Creation of the Discography would not have been possible without a grant of academic leave for the 1999-2000 academic year from the University of Cincinnati (Ohio, USA). The support of the University is hereby gratefully acknowledged. Thanks also to Elizabeth Hamilton of University Libraries for technical support and advice.
Special thanks is also due to the following librarians for providing information from recordings I was not able to consult or for facilitating my consultation of the their library collections:
- Suzanne Frechette (St. Louis Public Library)
- Jack Knapp (Oberlin College)
- Leslie Troutman (University of Illinois)
- Charles A. Reynolds (University of Michigan)
- Barry Zaslow (Miami University [Ohio])
