McNair Members

The ultimate goal of the McNair Postbaccalaureate Achievement Program is to increase the number of students from disadvantaged backgrounds obtaining their doctorates.

The University of Cincinnati works closely with McNair Program participants, using the following services:

  • Academic Counseling (goal setting to complete the undergraduate degree as well as an action plan for graduate school entrance and completion)
  • Assistance in obtaining Financial Aid
  • Mentoring Program
  • Research Opportunities
  • Seminars and Workshops
  • Summer Internships
  • Tutoring

McNair Scholars are expected to enroll in the McNair Seminar each semester through their junior year. Scholars conduct research and write a research paper during the summer between their 3rd and 4th year.  The program continues to work with the student on the graduate school application process.
