Senior Scholars Day Draws High-Achieving High-School Seniors to UC
The 131 students that are planning to attend Senior Scholars Day – mostly from around the Cincinnati USA regions in Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana – were invited to the UC event on review of their performance on the ACT and their high-school grade-point-average. Along with their parents, UC is expecting a crowd of around 340 people at Senior Scholars Day.
“Senior Scholars Day is designed to bring some of our top student prospects to campus – students who may or may not be giving us a look as they consider college,” says Thomas Canepa, associate vice president of UC Admissions. “It gives us an opportunity to showcase our University Honors Program, our pre-professional programs, undergraduate research opportunities and top scholarships to students who are being recruited by the nation’s top schools,” Canepa says.
Canepa adds that past programs have been successful in showing these high-achievers what they can find close to home. “There have been some students who have said that UC wasn’t on their radar until they attended the event, saw our campus and learned about the opportunities that are here, so this has certainly drawn the attention of students,” says Canepa.
