Autumn All-Campus Community Blood Drive Yields Hundreds of Donations


The University of Cincinnati community is participating in the Hoxworth Blood Center’s campaign to save lives throughout the seasons.

UC ingot   The University of Cincinnati’s all-campus community blood drive last week yielded 492 people who registered for donations, according to the Hoxworth Blood Center. Those donations included 448 whole blood units, 16 donations of platelets and 14 units of plasma, an effort that could help save 1,434 lives in the Cincinnati USA region.

UC is supporting Hoxworth’s regional campaign called “100,000 Donors, 100,000 Heroes” to raise awareness about the importance of blood donations and to increase the region’s number of blood donors in 2009-2010.

UC’s winter all-campus community blood drive is coming up in January, when donors can play Guitar Hero before and after blood donations. UC’s Center for Community Engagement is coordinating the effort. For information on signing up for donations or to volunteer for the blood drive, click on
