'Open Spaces' by Katie Vota Will be Featured in the Park National Bank Art Gallery

Open Spaces

by Katie Vota will be featured in the Park National Bank Art Gallery at UC Clermont College from April 14 – 29.

Vota is a local fiber artist, with a bachelor’s of fine arts degree from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore, who currently works between weaving, natural dying and cut paper techniques.

“I translate open structures between woven cloth and cut paper, focusing on the composition of negative spaces. The works are atmospheric in how they interact with light and integrate themselves into their environments. I want the work to have a connection to the space it inhabits,” said Vota.

The artist’s weaved and dyed pieces are custom hung and draped from the ceiling, walls and floor of each individual site and can change in form and impact on the viewer. The cut paper works are placed upon pedestals within the space. The artist has exhibited her art locally, nationally, as well as in Venice, Italy.

The Park National Bank Art Gallery is located in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Gallery hours are Monday-Thursday 7:30 a.m. – 7 p.m., Friday 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 8:30 a.m. – 12 p.m. The gallery is closed on Sundays. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
