Warren Walker Honored as UC Clermont's 2011 Distinguished Alumnus
UC Clermont College honored Warren Walker as the 2011 Distinguished Alumnus at the Annual Scholarship Luncheon today. The luncheon is held annually to recognize scholarship recipients, donors and a special alum.
The award is bestowed upon an individual who has distinguished themselves through significant professional accomplishment, made contributions to their community and attended UC Clermont College for at least one year.
I am humbled and honored by this award. The college holds a special place in my heart it is where I began my career and where I met and proposed to my wife. One of the great benefits in my position at Duke Energy is that I am able to link together my passion for community service and give back to those who were instrumental in laying the foundation for my success, said Walker.
Walker is the district manager of Community and Government Relations with Duke Energy. He earned his associates degree in 1992 at UC Clermont College before moving on to earn his bachelors degree at Union Institute and his master of business degree at Thomas More College.
Warren is a great example of the success you find here at UC Clermont College our graduates can start here and go anywhere. Not only is Warren a distinguished Clermont College alum but he continuously demonstrates his loyalty to the college and the Clermont County community with his involvement personally and professionally. Today we salute his accomplishments, said Dean Gregory S. Sojka.
Walker and his wife, Michele, have five children ranging from 12 23 years old. One of his daughters is a student at UC Clermont College and his wife Michele is a graduate of the college and is currently in the pharmacy program. He and his family are actively involved in the community and volunteer with numerous organizations, including People Working Cooperatively, United Way Day of Caring, Red Cross: Ready When The Time Comes, and various youth sport organizations.
Walker serves on the Board of Directors for the Clermont Chamber of Commerce. Walker also serves as a council member for the United Way Eastern Action Council for Clermont County. Walker is a member of Duke Energys Leadership Development Network and has served as the Program & Member Development Committee Chair.
Throughout its 38-year history, UC Clermont College has opened the door to higher education to thousands of students many of whom believed a college degree to be an unattainable goal.
