News from the Aviation Technology Program at Clermont College
Rick Rohrig earned his Recreational Pilot Certificate recently. To obtain his Recreational Certificate, Rohrig passed an oral and a flight exam with a Federal Aviation Administration designated flight examiner.
Two students also successfully soloed in their single-engine aircrafts: Chip Hais and David Haushalter. This was their first flight as student pilots without their instructor in the aircraft.
Hais is the son of Chuck and Mary Hais of Green Township. Haushalter is the son of Edward Haushalter of Loveland.
Additionally, Abdel Akkoub earned his Instrument Rating on his pilot certificate. With his Instrument Rating, Akkoub is now approved by the FAA to fly aircraft solely by reference to instruments.
These students are enrolled in the Aviation Technology--Professional Pilot Program at UC Clermont College. The laboratory portion of the Professional Pilot Program is taught at the Clermont County Airport.
When Rohrig, Hais and Haushalter complete the two-year program through UC Clermont, each will have earned an associate of applied science degree and a Commercial Pilot Certificate.
When Akkoub completes the two-year program through UC Clermont, he also will have earned an associate of applied science degree and is considering completing a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Cincinnati.
