UC Air Force and Army Cadets to be Commissioned as Military Officers

The University of Cincinnati Army Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) will hold its spring commissioning ceremony and retirement for Lieutenant Colonel Randy Judd at

11 a.m., Friday, June 10, in the Great Hall of Tangeman University Center (TUC).

The UC Air Force ROTC will hold its commissioning ceremony at

11 a.m., Sunday, June 12, in the Great Hall of TUC.

The ceremony is held for ROTC cadets who address the high standards to be appointed a second lieutenant, such as meeting the requirements of their degree program, their officer leadership training, medical qualifications and physical fitness. At the commissioning, the new officers receive their first salute in recognition of the authority of their office as bestowed by the president of the United States.

The following Army ROTC cadets will take part in the June 10 commissioning ceremony:

Eric Agbleke, 22, is from Sharonville Township and is a graduate of Princeton High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will be assigned to the 1-145 Armor Regiment in Ohio.

Nathan Brock, 22, is from Bellevue, Ohio, and is a graduate of Bellevue High School. He is completing bachelor’s degrees in linguistics and French. Brock will learn of his assignment upon completion of the second phase of the Basic Officers Leaders Course (BOLC-B) for combat-effective officers.

Shaun Carroll, 22, of Symmes Township, is a graduate of St. Xavier High School and is earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. Carroll will be assigned to the 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment in Ft. Hood, Texas.

Josh Fetrow, 23, is from Defiance, Ohio, and is a graduate of Defiance High School. He is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s in criminal justice. He will be assigned to the National Guard’s 1487th Transportation Company in Piqua, Ohio.

Kate Garth, 21, is from Sagamore Hills, Ohio, and is a graduate of Nordonia High School. She is earning a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and will be assigned to the Third Infantry Division at Hunter Army Air Field in Savannah, Ga.

Kadair Gleen, 25, of Cleveland, Ohio, is a graduate of Glenville High School and served in Operation Enduring Freedom. He says his calling for military service came after seeing the horror of 9-11 when he was in high school. Gleen served in Operation Enduring Freedom from September 2006 through April 2007, primarily in the Horn of Africa, and was awarded the Sea Service Deployment Ribbon, the Meritorious Mast, and the Navy and Marine Corps Overseas Service Ribbon. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in political science with a certificate in security studies. He will be assigned to the 1-145 Armor Regiment in Ohio.

Benjamin Hoffman, 22, of Green Hills Township, is a graduate of St. Xavier High School. He is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s degree in international affairs. Hoffmann will receive his assignment upon completion of the second phase of the Basic Officers Leaders Course (BOLC-B) for combat-effective officers.

Nicholas Jackson, 22, of Williamstown, Ky., is a graduate of Pendleton County High School. He is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Upon commissioning, he’ll be assigned to the 2/138th Field Artillery Batalion in Lexington, Ky.

Matthew Jacobs, 25, of Colerain Township, is a graduate of Colerain High School. He is earning his bachelor’s in special education. He will be assigned to Ft. Drum, N.Y.

Emily Kremer, 22, of Colerain Township, is a graduate of Colerain High School. She is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and will be assigned to the 3637th Maintenance Company in Springfield, Ill.

Lauren Queen, 22, of Beavercreek, Ohio, is a graduate of Beavercreek High School. She is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice and will be assigned to the 810th Quartermaster Battalion in Cincinnati.

David Weigle, 22, of Springdale Township, is a graduate of Princeton High School. He is graduating from UC with a bachelor’s degree in nursing and will receive his assignment upon completion of the second phase of the Basic Officers Leaders Course (BOLC-B) for combat-effective officers.

The event will include a special retirement ceremony for Army ROTC Lieutenant Colonel Randy Judd, who led the Bearcat Battalion in earning the distinguished 2010 MaCarthur Award. The honor recognized the Bearcat Battalion among eight of the nation’s Army ROTC programs in achieving the standards that best represent the ideals of famed World War II military leader General Douglas MacArthur.

Last October, Judd was awarded Professor of Military Science of the Year for U.S. Army Command’s Seventh Brigade. He was selected for the honor out of 40 ROTC programs across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

Air Force ROTC to Hold Commissioning Ceremony on June 12

The University of Cincinnati Air Force (ROTC) will hold its spring commissioning ceremony at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 12, in the Great Hall of TUC.

The following Air Force ROTC cadets will take part in the commissioning ceremony:

Robert J. Delaney is from Delhi, Ohio, and is a graduate of Oak Hills High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will be assigned to Charleston Air Force Base in South Carolina.

Michael J. Dimuzio is from West Chester, Ohio, and is a graduate of Stephen T. Badin High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in business finance. He will be assigned to Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado.

Stacey L. Fain is from Cincinnati and is a graduate of McAuley High School. She is graduating with her bachelor’s degree in international affairs. She will be assigned to Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.

Joel W. Finn is from Lima, Ohio and is a graduate of Tri-Valley High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He will be assigned to Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida.

Christopher P. Foti is from Trenton, New Jersey, and is a graduate of Archbishop of McNicholas High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in business marketing. He will be assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.

James J. Kearney III is from Cincinnati and is a graduate of Roger Bacon High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in aerospace engineering. He will be assigned to Fort Drum Army Base in New York.

Timothy S. Lorson is from Orrville, Ohio, and is a graduate of Orrville High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and master’s in business administration. He will be assigned to Ramstein Air Base in Germany.

Anthony J. Nejman is from Parma, Ohio, and is a graduate of Walsh Jesuit High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. He will be assigned to Sheppard Air Force Base in Texas.

Robert G. Pukay-Martin is from Cambridge, Mass., and is a graduate of Thomas Worthington High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. He will be assigned to Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana.

Wayne T. Sletten is from Ramstein, Germany, and is a graduate of Beavercreek High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will be assigned to Columbus Air Force Base in Mississippi.

Enoch E. Stohry lives in Cincinnati and is a graduate of Hamilton Christian High School. He is graduating with his bachelor’s degree in criminal justice. He will be assigned to Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.
