Colleges and universities from throughout the State of Ohio will gather
at the University of Cincinnati on Nov. 9, 2011, for a summit that will
focus on the state’s conversion to semesters by fall 2012.
By fall 2012,
twenty public and private Ohio higher education institutions
still on quarters – from Antioch University to Zane State College –
will convert to semesters at the request of the
Ohio Board of Regents
and in accordance with the
University System of Ohio’s Strategic Plan
for Higher Education.
To
assist with the transition and all of its myriad aspects – student
advising, registration, curricula conversion, teaching in a new academic
calendar, learning assessment, financial aid and more – the University
of Cincinnati is hosting a fall 2011 summit in order to explore best
practices.
Attending
will be representatives from institutions that converted as recently as
fall 2011 as well as representatives from institutions that will
convert in either summer or fall 2012.
UC faculty and staff involved in conversion committees and subcommittees will be attending the summit; however, the event is also open to those UC faculty and staff who are not formal members of conversion planning committees and subcommittees. Those individuals can register
online.
