Reczek helped research national health survey data of nearly 20,000 people taken from 1997 to 2004 for a study called Journal of Marriage and Family, according to the report. The study examines mortality data between married couples and those who cohabit across racial groups in the US. Reczek and fellow researcher Hui Liu of Michigan State University found its possible that marriage doesnt boost longevity for African-Americans as it does for whites.

in the McMicken College of Arts & Sciences in September 2011. Her research focuses on how family relationships shape health, specifically examining how gender, sexuality and aging dynamics in family ties intersect to promote or deter health.
