Committee Begins Search For Next UC President

C. Francis Barrett, Chairman of the University of Cincinnati Board of Trustees has designated the membership of a Presidential Search Committee and established a schedule for the committee's initial meetings.

The first committee sessions will provide opportunities to interview Interim President. Santa J. Ono.  During four sessions, Ono will share his vision for the University of Cincinnati if named president, and will answer questions and discuss matters of importance concerning the University.  The interview sessions will take place in the Room 620 of the University  Pavilion Building at 5:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, Wednesday, Oct. 10, Thursday, Oct. 11, and Friday, Oct. 12.

"The duty of the Search Committee is to assist the Board of Trustees in identifying candidates for the position of President of the University of Cincinnati," said Barrett, who will chair the search process.  "Due to the unique circumstances of the current situation, and out of a desire to receive broad-based input and to build widespread consensus, I am appointing additional participants beyond those required under the University Bylaws."

The first committee meeting will be held at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 15 in the Russell C. Myers Alumni Center, 2906 Woodside Drive, on the UC campus. Nicole Blount will serve as secretary to the committee.

The committee members are listed here; those members identified by an asterisk are appointed pursuant to University Rule 3361:10-6-01(A).

From literature to AI: UC grad shares career path to success

April 23, 2024

Before Katie Trauth Taylor worked with international organizations like NASA, Boeing and Hershey, and before receiving accolades for her work in the generative AI space, she was in a much different industry – English and literature. Taylor earned her master's in English and Comparative Literature in UC’s College of Arts and Sciences. She completed her educational journey at Purdue University with a doctorate degree in rhetoric and composition. After working as a graduate assistant at Purdue and UC, she became a research professor at Miami University. It might seem from there that her career was set—perhaps a tenured professorship or a university administrative position. That might have been her path, but Taylor had her eyes set on different goals. So how did Taylor transition from literature and composition to tech entrepreneurship? She enjoys sharing that part of her story.
