More than 300 voices will fill the stage of Corbett Auditorium with favorite holiday songs during the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music’s (CCM) annual Feast of Carols on Dec. 8 and 9. The festivities will include treasured sounds of the season performed by CCM’s Chamber Choir, Chorale and Concert Orchestra, UC Men’s and Women’s Choruses, Cincinnati Children’s Choir and outstanding area guest choirs, including the May Festival Youth Chorus, School for Creative and Performing Arts Chorale and Winton Woods High School Varsity Ensemble. Performances will take place on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 5 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 9, at 2 and 5 p.m. in UC’s Corbett Auditorium.
The annual Feast of Carols – a tradition that dates back decades – will feature an eclectic mix of holiday songs ranging from the classic and traditional to the contemporary and even barbershop. “Feast of Carols is like going to Radio City Musical Hall in New York,” says Earl Rivers, director of choral studies at CCM. “It’s a bit of classics; it’s a bit of pops, gospel and Broadway. It has everything you can imagine for the holiday season.”
Rivers joins conductors Brett Scott, Olga Artemova, Michael Fuchs, Robyn Lana, James Bagwell, David Bell and Laurie Wyant-Zenni in inviting audiences to sing along to favorite holiday carols during the spectacular “Fa-La-La” Feast of Carols finale with audience, combined choirs and CCM’s Concert Orchestra. In addition to CCM’s ensembles and the Cincinnati Children’s Choir, outstanding choruses from Greater Cincinnati will join in the festivities.
