A new degree option at the University of Cincinnati will bring the best of both technical and business worlds together to form the IT + MBA program.

Deans from both UC colleges— Edward Latessa, dean of the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human, and David Szymanski, dean of the Carl H. Lindner College of Business—will jointly announce the partnership at 11 a.m. in a signing ceremony on Friday, March 8, 2013 at Teachers College in room 407.

The IT + MBA combines the undergraduate Information Technology degree from the College of Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services with an MBA from the Carl H. Lindner College of Business.

Latessa says, “The continual merging of technology and business is driving a need for leaders to be conversant in both disciplines.” Szymanski  added, “Our new program offers students the fantastic opportunity to set themselves apart by beginning their careers with a deep understanding of both the business and technical sides of the equation.”

The new multi-disciplinary degree option can be completed in five years. The degree combines hands-on experience, experiential senior projects and five semesters of co-operative education by alternating semesters of paid work and classroom instruction beginning sophomore year.

Rigorous coursework and a customizable experience are flagship strengths of the nationally-ranked MBA program in the Lindner College of Business.

Both programs are accredited and nationally recognized. The Information Technology program in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services is the first program in Ohio and one of the first 10 in the nation to receive accreditation from ABET Inc.

The Lindner College of Business has been an accredited business school since 1919 by the AACSB (Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business) and is ranked as a Best Business School by U.S. News & World Report, Bloomberg Businessweek and The Princeton Review.  FindyourMBA.com ranked the Lindner MBA as the country’s most improved MBA.
