Renovations Take Alumni Hall Offline Through August

A newly renovated Alumni Hall will be unveiled in late August of this year, just in time for the Aug. 27 UC Board of Trustees meeting and the Aug. 31 football season opener when the UC Alumni Association hosts the Bearcats Blitz pre-game tailgate.

“While this work is taking place, we will be unable to host any events or meetings in Alumni Center,” said Myron Hughes, UC Alumni Association Executive Director. “Thank you for your patience during this interim stage, and for your ongoing support of the UC Alumni Association and our important work.”

Functional, technical and aesthetic upgrades to Alumni Hall, the largest meeting space in the building, as well as the adjacent restroom and coat closet areas are part of an ongoing plan to renovate the Myers Alumni Center. Renovations began three years ago with the construction of a handicap-access ramp and new lighting and grounds improvements around the building. Future work will upgrade the rest of the first floor and the courtyard.

“We are truly excited about this phase of renovations to our facility. Just about everything you’ve seen in Alumni Hall and the restrooms is original from about 25 years ago,” Hughes said. “When this phase is completed, we’ll have enhanced meeting capabilities, a more attractive and functional space, and ADA-compliant restroom facilities.”

Hughes said the Alumni Association believes it is imperative that the Alumni Center, the on-campus home for the 260,000-plus members of the UC Alumni Family, reflect the excellence of UC’s alumni, students and the university as a whole.

The Russell C. Myers Alumni Center has been the home of the University of Cincinnati Alumni Association since 1989. The center is named for Russell C. Myers, who graduated in 1950 from the College of Design, Architecture, Art and Planning with a degree in Architecture.
