UC Clermont Reschedules Evening with NASA Astronaut Rick Searfoss

UC Clermont has rescheduled the reception and presentation with NASA Astronaut and Space Shuttle Commander Rick Searfoss, Colonel, USAF, Ret for Saturday, Feb. 1, 2014.

A dessert reception will be held on the campus in the Park National Bank Art Gallery, followed by a presentation by Colonel Searfoss in the Krueger Auditorium. The event is being sponsored by Duke Energy. The event was cancelled due to a winter storm in early December. UC Clermont College is located at 4200 Clermont College Dr. in Batavia.

Searfoss piloted two Space Shuttle missions and commanded a third, with more than 939 hours in space and 5400 hours flying time in 61 different types of aircraft. His first spaceflight in 1993 set the record for the longest duration Space Shuttle mission. In 1996 he piloted Atlantis to the Russian space station Mir.

It highlights Duke’s ongoing support and UC Clermont’s commitment to delivering programs that support student interest in STEM fields,” said Duke Energy District Manager of Community and Government Relations Warren Walker. STEM is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.
