UC Clermont College to Launch a Women's Peer Mentoring Program
UC Clermont College is launching a Peer Mentoring Program focusing on developing womens leadership and transition to four-year colleges.
The focus of this program is linking women students at UC Clermont with mentors from the UC Uptown Campus and creating a flexible support system through peer-to-peer relationships, thereby promoting transitions to four-year colleges. The program is being sponsored by UC Clermont College and the American Association of University Women (AAUW).

Program details include:
UC Clermont College's Peer Mentoring Program is targeted toward women students who anticipate making a transition from a two-year program at Clermont College to a four-year academic course of study, within or outside the University of Cincinnati system, in various career fields including nontraditional areas such as STEM.
This project, facilitated by a group of UC Clermont College faculty and students, runs through UCs Spring Semester 2014. Mentees will be paired with mentors, and together they will create their own flexible agenda. Two meetings of the entire group of participants will take place in early February and mid-March, where participants will share a meal and community building. These also will include pairings of students, inspiring guest speakers, mentor/mentee training, and valuable leadership training. One final meeting near the end of the spring semester will finish out the formal project.
Both mentors and mentees:
obtain targeted leadership training from faculty and guest speakers;
gain valuable leadership skills;
develop new close relationships with other students and faculty;
experience an enhanced sense of community.
Mentees will also:
gain new sources of information, support, and encouragement;
set challenging academic goals;
learn assertiveness in achieving the goals;
work toward transition to four-year colleges, further academic achievement, and career pathways.
Mentors will also:
provide valuable assistance to mentees;
receive training and guidance from faculty to perform mentor roles;
get involved with the AAUW organization;
earn a record of valuable campus service.

Artists from Cincinnati-based Queen City Clay will display their work in a new exhibit, “Eighteen Years in Service,” April 1-June 27 in the University of Cincinnati Clermont College Art Gallery.
