Macy's Arts Sampler at UC Clermont College
The annual Macys Arts Sampler presented by ArtsWave celebrates the creative things music, dance, theater, museums and festivals happening in large and small ways throughout our region. UC Clermont College will be hosting family-friendly activities on Saturday, Feb. 8, at UC Clermont College from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on the campus in Batavia. All events are free and open to the public, thanks to the generous sponsorship of Macys.

Visit the craft tables for a variety of family-friendly activities
10:00-2:00 GALLERY EXHIBIT
"Polymorphic Conveyance" by John R.G. Roth
11:00-2:00 FACE PAINTING
Artist Jennifer Pilott, owner of Fabulous Faces by Jen, returns again to create awesome works of art using your face as the canvas!
11:00-2:00 YARN DANGLERS
Participants of all ages can make danglers using a variety of plastic needlepoint shapes, colorful yarn and fun bead and bell adornments. Hang your dangler from a window for a beautiful decoration!
11:30-12:15 "MARTIN'S DREAM" PERFORMANCE presented by ArtReach: A Division of the Children's Theatre of Cincinnati
Who was Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., really? "Martin's Dream" answers this question and more as it brings this historical figure to life through the power of story, speech and song. Families will spend time with Dr. King as he tells the story of his life, from childhood in the Deep South all the way to the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, where he delivered his famous "I have a Dream" speech. The show explores the real person behind the pictures, a funny, intelligent, passionate man whose faith, family and education made him one of the most revered people in our nation's history. Recommended for ages 8+
12:00-1:00 FRIDA KAHLO INSPIRED SELF-PORTRAIT WORKSHOP
UC Clermont professor Kelly Frigard will lead families to create self-portraits inspired by the works of Mexican artist Frida Kahlo. All family members can participate in this workshop.
1:00-2:00 GYOTAKU- JAPANESE FISH PRINTING
Originating in 19th century Japan, gyotaku (meaning "print fish") developed from the need to record the exact size of a trophy catch and evolved into a beautiful artform in its own right. Join Kim Taylor, UC Clermont professor, to create your very own gyotaku design using lifelike replicas of fish and other sea creatures. Recommended for ages 7+ with parent assistance.
About Arts Sampler
For more than 15 years UC Clermont College has proudly participated in the Cincinnati ArtsWave Sampler as a venue in Clermont County. Celebrated annually in February, the arts sampler is one of the largest FREE arts festivals in the nation.
The entire event spotlights the Greater Cincinnati areas many arts venues, artists and performers through its more than 100 free activities that take place in various communities throughout the region from Loveland to Blue Ash, Covington to downtown Cincinnati.
As a participant, UC Clermont College features numerous family-friendly arts-focused activities and workshops and its Krueger Auditorium hosts everything from philharmonic concerts to theater and dance performances.
All ArtsWave Sampler events at UC Clermont College are FREE and open to the public!
