"Fracking" is the release of natural gas caused by the fracture of rock strata when high-pressure hydraulic fluid is pumped deep under the ground. “We are concerned about the present and potential dangers to our drinking water caused by the injection of these fluids and the gases they release. We also know that earthquakes have resulted from fracking activities. Many Ohioans are concerned about the increased use of fracking in our state,” said Professor of Biology and Chemistry David Fankhauser.
