As an eLearning champion, Kelley is employing innovative, collaborative and student-centric methods to achieve this by utilizing the upgraded Blackboard systems new features.
In terms of teaching, I can provide more detailed instruction with the Kaltura Mashup tool, Kelley said.
The tool gives instructors the ability to record their screens, which he said allows him to create deeper understanding of complex concepts among his students. Kelley also uses the tool to create Week in Review videos that highlight where his students strengths are and where they need to dedicate more time.
This has really been a benefit in staying on top of and meeting learning objectives, he said.
But, Kelley doesnt stop there. He strives to find creative ways of interacting with his students and generating excitement in his courses.
I created Kelleys All-Stars, which is a way I identify those students who have demonstrated exemplary work, and when they fully engage with discussion boards or other community-building activities, he said.
Kelley also has noticed a significant increase in student satisfaction since he has begun using the inline grading tool. He said it has allowed him to provide students with quicker feedback, further enhancing their ability to learn.
At the end of the day, the new tools within Canopy have really assisted my overall instructional arsenal! he said.
With a passion for teaching and the courage to try new things, Kelley is jumping into the eLearning pool with both feet and setting a clear example for others.
