Bleed for a Cause Competition Begins Nov. 1

Organizations on the University of Cincinnati campus that support charities can recruit blood donors in a competition to win big money. Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati is seeking campus organizations to register for its 2014 Bleed For A Cause™ - UC Edition.  Groups must register for competition by October 30, 2014. 

“Last year, local charities recruited more than 1,000 blood donors during Bleed for a Cause in July. They saved lives, rallied their own supporters, and earned some significant funds for their causes,” said Alecia Lipton, Hoxworth spokesperson. “We have decided to bring this campaign to UC and give campus organizations an opportunity to win funds for their charity.  Giving blood is a good deed and Bleed for a Cause multiplies the impact by supporting causes that donors care about. Organizations need to sign up now and then we’ll equip them with training and tools at a special training session on November 3 to recruit blood donors.”

Organizations will compete to score points by recruiting blood donors. The stakes are high: the top organization will win $5,000 for their chosen charity/philanthropy. The 2014 campaign will be held November 1 thru December 5 and is open to any UC organization currently in good standing. Organizations will recruit blood donors to any of the 8 neighborhood donor centers as well as the All Campus UC Blood Drive for students, faculty and staff the first week of December.

• UC organizations persuade people to donate blood to Hoxworth November 1 – December 5
• Each donation earns points.  Neighborhood Donor Center = 2 points.  All Campus UC Blood Drive = 1 point.
• The three charities with the most points are the winners!

• 1st Place = $5,000
