UC Clermont Cougars Headed to Nationals, the 9th Trip for Volleyball Team

The UC Clermont volleyball team received an at-large bid to the United States Collegiate Athletic Association (USCAA) National Championship Tournament in Canton, New York. This bid represents the ninth consecutive the Cougar program has received for this prestigious event – a streak almost unprecedented in the USCAA and the longest such streak in the Greater Cincinnati area.

UC Clermont enters the tournament as the number six seed. They will face Concordia College-Alabama in the first match. Preliminary pool play begins Thursday, Oct. 30 and continues Oct. 31. If the Cougars qualify, the elimination rounds begin late afternoon on Oct. 31.

“I am incredibly proud of this team,” said Clermont Head Coach Joe Harpring. “They overcame many obstacles in the pre-season and had their doubters, but they really gelled as the season went on. They have become one of the hardest-working teams we have ever had in this program. We face more hurdles as a Division II team in a Division I tournament, but I think this group will embrace the challenge.”
