Research on Creation Museum Leads to National Recognition for UC Communication Professor

University of Cincinnati Department of Communication, which recently celebrated its

50th anniversary

, is continuing to add to its achievements with a strong UC presence at the National Communication Association convention.  

John A. Lynch, professor of communication, will be awarded the Association for Rhetoric of Science and Technology’s Article of the Year Award at the convention. This is the third year that the award has been distributed.

Lynch’s award is based on his work titled, “‘Prepare to Believe’: The Creation Museum as Embodied Conversion Narrative,” which was published in Rhetoric & Public Affairs in 2013. Lynch’s full article can be read online

The award was announced in late August on the Association for the Rhetoric of Science and Technology’s

with a brief description of the requirements essays must meet in order to receive this award.

In addition to Lynch, UC’s Department of Communication will be represented at the convention by several other faculty members including Professor Shaunak Sastry, who is presenting a paper based on his research regarding truckers and the manner in which they discuss their AIDS risk. Sastry will also be co-presenting a seminar about human tracking with graduate student Alyse DeLange. The National Communication Association, NCA, will have its 100th annual convention from Nov. 20-23.
