UC Adopts New Information Security Training Program
The University of Cincinnati has introduced a new data security and privacy training program for employees, offered through SANS and LawRoom.
As part of our commitment to a safe and secure cyber workplace, we are pleased to provide information security training to all employees, faculty and student workers, said Matthew Williams, Information Security Manager for the IT@UC Office of Information Security.
The program will roll out in two phases.
- Phase One: All new hires with a start date of Dec.1, 2014, or later, will take the new data security and privacy course offering via LawRoomthe same service that Human Resources uses for other trainings offered during employee onboarding.
- Phase Two: Current employees will be able to take industry-leading SANS Securing The Human information security training via Blackboard, UCs learning management system.
UC faculty and staff will receive an email with a link to directions about how to access the required programs via LawRoom. Existing faculty and staff will be able to take additional courses as appropriate to their roles and to meet federal and state requirements by contacting the IT@UC Office of Information Security at infosec@uc.edu.
