Outstanding Faculty Leaders, Mentors Celebrated as New Fellows
A new group of distinguished researchers, scholars, teachers and mentors at the University of Cincinnati joined the ranks of Fellows of the Graduate School and the Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning at the latest UC Board of Trustees meeting.
Faculty members and researchers from across the university earn admission into these selective groups based on rigorous criteria. Their careers illustrate their commitment to academia and providing top-quality opportunities for students and their peers in the community and around the world.
Its such a pleasure to recognize these accomplished scholars and teachers in our midst, said Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Beverly Davenport, who presented the fellows to the Board for approval. These faculty members and researchers embody the spirit of our Third Century. They help our students succeed while achieving research excellence and embracing the scholarship of teaching and learning in their work.

Academy of Fellows for Teaching and Learning
(AFTL) join a community of more than 50 educators focused on student success and achievement. They work to grow research excellence in the scholarship of teaching and learning, achieve academic excellence and forge key partnerships that advance teaching and learning at UC.
AFTL members serve as trusted advisors to UCs administrators and their ongoing efforts positions UC as an educational reform leader. In the heart of UC's 1819 Innovation Hub lies the Ground Floor Makerspace, an advanced and active hub of ingenuity where students, faculty and the community converge to bring their ideas to life. This includes being the birthplace of robots much like miniature race cars, combating fender to fender in an enclosed boxing ring. Combat robots like UC's Maximizer will again be fighting for first place in the National Havoc Robot League (NHRL) competition, slated for April 20.
UC researchers develop new CPAP device

Researchers at the University of Cincinnati are developing a VortexPAP machine that takes advantage of vortex airflow technology. A preliminary clinical study with current CPAP users demonstrated that the VortexPAP can deliver the pressure levels that are used in the subjects’ CPAP therapy, but the mask is more comfortable to wear. It has a minimalistic design that is less intrusive and barely touches the patient’s face.
