Friday, March 6, from 9 a.m.-2:30 p.m., in TUCs Great Hall.
More than 100 graduate students spanning disciplines from across the university highlight months worth of work during the Expo & Forum, which includes a lunch of free pizza for all attendees.
The entire university community is involved, said Margaret Hanson, associate dean of the Graduate School. Our graduate students do amazing work, and this is a great opportunity for us to showcase their talents.
A sampling of discoveries:
- From research focusing on survivors of human trafficking and strategies for teaching gender non-conforming preschoolers to a comparison of the purity of Cincinnati-brewed beers and their national competitors and a study intowait for itenhancing the sensitivity of gold nanoparticle arrays, the expo offers something for everyone.
- A look at the extensive line-up of presenters illustrates the depth of the Graduate Schools reach. It includes traditional research areas like physics and engineering as well as design and fine arts.
- Four related posters explore the impact of Hurricane Hugo in St. Croix on the natural disasters 25th anniversary. Created as part of an graduate/undergraduate UC Forward transdisciplinary course called Natural Disasters, the posters represent findings from a semester of study and a study trip to the tropical island.
Our graduate students represent the breadth and scope of opportunities to explore and create new knowledge at UC, Hanson said. Were excited for undergraduates, faculty, staff and our graduate school community to celebrate the work being done on and around campus.
Fine Arts, performance featured:
The scope of the Expo stretches beyond bench research and community-based studies. MFA students from the College of Design, Art, Architecture & Planning curate a collection of their documentary photography, painting, stop-motion animation and more.
New this year is the introduction of a Main Stage for students to share creative performances from poetry to dance, starting at noon.
