UC Clermont/Clermont Chamber of Commerce Business Plan Competition Is Free and Open to All

UC Clermont College and the Ohio Small Business Development Center at the Clermont Chamber of Commerce are pleased to announce our Sixth Annual Business Plan Competition. This competition is designed to stimulate entrepreneurial activity and increase awareness of resources available to grow entrepreneurs in Clermont County.

 

“You could be the winner of startup funding or money to help grow your existing venture,” said Andrew Hughes, assistant professor, Business, Law and Technology Department.

 

UC Clermont College will be offering four two-hour business planning classes held by our professors beginning Monday, July 27, and continuing on consecutive Monday nights through Monday, August 17. Each session will be from 6-8:30 p.m. at the campus located at 4200 Clermont College Drive in Batavia in Snyder Room 142.

Because each session will feature a different topic, attendance at all four sessions would be suggested. Contestants are required to attend at least one of the sessions to qualify. Entrepreneurs are encouraged to register and attend to fit their needs and schedules. Below is a schedule of topics that will be covered each week. •  Monday, July 27 - Rules & Regulations, Starting a Business/ Business 101 & Finance for Business             

•  Monday, August 3 - Creating a Solid Business Plan & Business Laws

•  Monday, August 10 – Marketing your Business to Customers & Managing the Business

•  Monday, August 17 – IT Software for Small Businesses & Contest Rules

 

Competitors must submit a complete business plan of no more than 30 pages for a company that operates or will operate in Clermont County. It can be for a new business, early stage company, or a proposed expansion or recovery of an existing business. Winners must use their winnings in the business itself. The best business plans will win the following award amounts:

 

•  First Place wins $3,000

•  Second Place wins $1,000

•  Third Place wins $500
