UC Center for Business Analytics Names New Executive Director
The
UC Center for Business Analytics
at the Lindner College of Business announces Glenn Wegryn as its new Executive Director.
Wegryn brings more than 30 years of experience in analytics to the Center. Currently Principal of Analytic Impact LLC, an analytics consultancy, he previously spent 28 years at Procter & Gamble, notably as the creator and leader of P&Gs award-winning Supply Chain Analytics group.
Wegryn succeeds Jeff Camm, professor and former department head of Lindners Operations, Business Analytics and Information Systems (OBAIS) program, who retired in July 2015 after 30 years at UC.
Wegryns goal is to continue to lead the Center both regionally and nationally in research, in education and as data solution experts.
We will continue to connect UC faculty and students to the professional analytics community, as well as provide a means for corporate analytics groups to connect with one other, he says.
Wegryns background is perfectly suited to continue the centers mission.
Glenns longtime experience as an analytics professional at the largest consumer packaged goods company in the world will be invaluable to our corporate partners, our faculty and our students, says Lindner College of Business Dean David Szymanski.
While at P&G, Wegryn helped earn international recognition for collaborating with UC to analyze the companys North American supply chain that generated a savings in excess of $250 million. The work was recognized by The Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS) as a Finalist in the prestigious Franz Edelman Prize in 1996. INFORMS gives the award annually to recognize advanced analytics applications that benefit business and humanitarian outcomes. Wegryns group also received INFORMS prizes in 2004, 2006 and 2010 for optimization techniques that also saved the company millions of dollars.
David Dittmann, director of P&G's Business Intelligence & Analytics, says Wegryn is an exceptional leader and practitioner in analytics.
"His passion to grow the field of Analytics is evident through his numerous industry and academic connections," Dittmann says. "I look forward to his visionary leadership being applied to the University of Cincinnati Center of Business Analytics."
Wegryn is a graduate of Indiana Universitys Kelley School of Business. He is an INFORMS Certified Analytics Professional®, currently serves as President of the INFORMS Analytics Section and is a 10-year veteran of the organizations Business Roundtable. Wegryn is also an active speaker, sharing his experiences with Fortune 500 companies, conferences and colleges throughout the country.
Wegryn will oversee the progression of the UC Center for Business Analytics that began in 2012 in response to growing enrollment and explosive demand among companies seeking data analysis.
The Center has quickly grown to 20 corporate members including analytics leaders Procter & Gamble, Kroger, Macys and 84.51°.
