Event to Debut UC Bow Tie, Raise Funds for Student Scholarships

Bowties for Scholarships Luncheon Planned for Oct. 15

Can you tie a bow tie? How about a scarf? Event attendees will have their skills tested at the second annual University of Cincinnati Bowties for Scholarships Luncheon on Thursday, October 15 at the Kingsgate Marriott Conference Center.

The event, which will be emceed by Fox 19’s meteorologist Frank Marzullo, will highlight the winning bow tie and scarf from the student design contest that ran earlier this year. Andrew Dunn, a sophomore studying architecture in UC’s College of Design, Architecture, Art, and Planning (DAAP), won the contest with his campus map-inspired design.

Those who register for the event can choose to receive a bow tie or scarf featuring Dunn’s striking design. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Bowties for Scholarships Fund, which was established in 2014 to help create more need-based scholarships for UC students.

In addition to featuring Dunn’s winning design, the event will highlight the importance of scholarships for UC students and offer bow tie-inspired cuisine and entertainment. UC President Santa Ono will speak along with UC Foundation President Rodney Grabowski and UC graduate James Avant.
