Changing Rate Structures for Parking, Housing and Meal Plans

Campus Services auxiliary units provide quality services and programs that enrich the UC experience, with the goal of continually improving services and offerings to students, faculty, staff and visitors. Leveraging leading-edge enhancements in operations and service requires creative collaborative leadership, financial support and regular review.

Rate increases allow Campus Services functions to maintain funds to meet the structural repair needs of aging facilities, remain solvent through increases in debt service for newer structures and provide essential customer service needs with technology advancements.

  • Housing Services will use the 2 percent increase to cover anticipated cost increases associated with the opening of Scioto Hall, staffing changes in Resident Education and Development and locally funded improvements to various residence halls.

  • Food Services’ meal plan rates will maintain their competitive mid-position of all Ohio public institutions. The 2 percent increase covers anticipated increases in various operating costs and meal plan growth while maintaining service enhancements such as the grab-and-go concept located in TUC’s Catskeller.

  • Parking Services has maintained a 1.9 percent average annual increase over the last 10 years, while the industry average is 3 percent. Parking Services has also been able to decrease operational expenses by 13.8 percent since FY13. The FY17 Parking Services rate increase will average $2-3/month. See the new permit rates for specific garages at uc.edu/parking/rates.

Campus Services units continue to work efficiently to maintain and reduce costs to keep rate increases at a minimum. From the experience in a parking garage to dining, staying or playing on campus, Campus Services units serve in support of the UC mission.
